The current fleet of Nuclear stations are approaching the end of their lifecycle and are due to be replaced by new reactors that will be provided by Hitachi, Areva and Westinghouse. Others may also join the Generic Design Approval (GDA) process which ratifies the reactor safety.

The defence sector consists of the nuclear propelled submarines and the UK deterrent. The submarines are manufactured by BAE Systems and Babcock Marine, and AWE support the deterrent programme.
